Bucs Suffer Loss in 2OT

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Whitworth women's soccer team was defeated 1-0 in double-overtime by the Occidental Tigers on Sunday morning in William Roland Stadium at Cal Lutheran University.

The Pirates (1-3) were outshot 13-1 in the defeat. Dylan Wensley scored the match-winner for the Tigers (3-0).

The Occidental defense did not disappoint, holding the Pirates to one shot the entire match. Maggie Baird started in goal for the Tigers but did not need to make a single save in the win.

The Bucs' solo shot came in the 68th minute from Kalena Pfaeltzer. Isabelle Arends started in goal for the Pirates, recording eight saves on the match.

The Tigers ended the match two minutes into the second overtime when Dylan Wensley lobbed in a shot over Arends from outside the box.

Occidental finished with the advantage in shots (13-1), shots on goal (9-0) and corner kicks (5-1).

Up next, the Pirates begin Northwest Conference play with road matches at Pacific Lutheran (Sept. 21) and Puget Sound (Sept. 22). Both matches are set to start at 12:00 pm.
