BREMERTON, Wash. – The Whitworth University men struggled to a seventh place finish on the opening day of the Northwest Conference Spring Golf Classic at Gold Mountain Golf Club on Saturday.
Keegan Loo is tied for sixth place individually after a round of 74 (+3) and the Pirates shot 319 to trail first place Pacific Lutheran by 22 strokes.
The team scores through the first day are PLU 297, Willamette 298, Linfield 305, Puget Sound 307, George Fox 308, Lewis & Clark 317, Whitworth 319, Whitman 322, Pacific (Ore.) 333.
Loo tied with five other players with his round of 74. Trent Jones of Willamette shot 67 (-4) on Saturday and is the only individual player under par.
Tyson Odden (79) is tied for 24th and Elijah Pittser (80) is 29th. Jamie Carroll (86) is tied for 38th and Reilly Hegarty (87) is tied for 40th.
The tournament will conclude on Sunday. The NWC Spring Classic counts as 25th of the final conference standings.
