
FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Whitworth swimming teams completed a perfect weekend in Oregon by defeating Pacific University in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon.
The Pirate men won all 11 events to defeat the Boxers 168.5 – 21.5. The Whitworth women won 158-47. Both teams are 2-0 in dual meets this season.
Connor Florey, Isaiah Ross and Jake Davies all won a pair of individual events for the Pirate men. Florey posted impressive back-to-back victories by winning the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:22.21) and 200-yard freestyle (1:53.77). Ross won the 200-yard butterfly (2:02.40) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.68). Davies took first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:03.71) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.82).
Ross and Davies also swam a leg on the opening 400-yard medley relay. Byron Rossmiller, Owen Lempert, Ross and Davies posted a winning time of 3:38.10.
Whitworth closed the meet with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Lempert, Ryan Burch, Jacob Butler and Tristan Todd had a winning time of 3:24.41.
The Pirate women won 10 of the 11 events in the dual. Jamie Siegler and Cameron Lyon each won a pair of individual events. Siegler also swam the breaststroke leg on the 400 medley relay, which won with a time of 4:10.80. Hannah Galbraith (backstroke), Kaitlyn Wornath (butterfly) and Carly Hoff (freestyle) were also on that relay.
Siegler sprinted to a win in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.84. She also won the 200 breaststroke in 2:35.10. Lyon took first in the 200 freestyle (2:03.77) and 200 butterfly (2:14.11).
Galbraith took first in the 200 backstroke (2:13.36) then anchored the winning 400 freestyle relay. Hoff led off, followed by Elizabeth Dressel, Izy Iral and Galbraith for a time of 3:52.96.
Whitworth will have the next weekend off, then will host Linfield and Willamette on November 15th and 16th.
