Grady Wins Two More; SU Sweeps Duals

SPOKANE, Wash. – Ryan Grady won two more events for the Whitworth University men, but visiting Seattle University completed a non-conference swimming dual meet sweep of the Pirates at the Whitworth Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Redhawk men won the two-day dual meet 246-162 while the SU women defeated Whitworth 258-152.

Grady, who won twice for the Bucs on Friday night, continued his impressive performance against the NCAA Division I foes.  He led from the start to claim the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:47.95.  He followed with a winning time of 2:07.01 in the 200-yard breaststroke.  Grady, Byron Rossmiller, Eben Schumann and Owen Lempert took second place in the 400-yard medley relay (3:33.05) at the beginning of the day.

The Pirate men won four individual events.  Finn McClone claimed a victory in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.30.  Jake Davies finished first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:58.93. 

Whitworth's women won three individual events on Saturday.  Marissa Gibson (11:22.05) and Jessica Defiesta (11:23.64) took first and second in the 1,000 freestyle.  Cameron Lyon came from behind over the final half of the race to claim the 500-yard freestyle in 5:24.53.  Jamie Siegler won her third race of the weekend with a time of 2:31.08 in the 200 breaststroke.

Siegler, Eve Vetter, Emma Boles and Hannah Galbraith took second in the 400-yard medley relay by three-tenths of a second with a time of 4:10.40.

Whitworth will return to action next weekend when the Pirates host Puget Sound (Friday night) and Pacific Lutheran (Saturday) in a pair of Northwest Conference dual meets.
