Last season, the Whitworth women finished 7th among non-Division I competitors. Kayla Leland led the way with a 10th place result, best on the team. The Pirate men ended the meet in 21st place. Grant Bingham was their best finisher in 83rd place.
Two weekends ago, both the men and women opened their seasons at the Clash of the Inland Northwest. Leland's first place finish paced the women to a season-opening victory, while the men dropped their opener to Lewis & Clark State. Whitworth's men were led by Côme Nzibarega's strong third place effort.
The Pirate women enter the meet as the 17th-ranked team in the most recent USTFCCCA NCAA Division III poll. Whitworth dropped six spots despite winning the first meet of the season, and hopes to climb back up the rankings with a strong meet on Saturday.
