NEW ORLEANS, La. – Freshman Chris MacMurray and sophomore Christina Anderson earned 2012 USTFCCCA Division III Cross Country All-Region recognition from the West Region, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday.
At the DIII West Region Championship men's 8k race on Saturday, Chris MacMurray finished with a time of 25:43.76, which put him in 35th place. Christina Anderson ran the women's 6k race in 22:25.71 for 27th place. Both were the first Pirates to cross the finish line.
The USTFCCCA recognized nearly 560 student-athletes that earned All-Region awards for cross country in Division III. Student-athletes of member schools that finished in the top 35 individually at one of the eight regional sites earned the honor. The full list can be found here.
The West Region had 70 student-athletes honored. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, who finished first in both the men's and women's races on Saturday, led the way with 13 student-athletes being recognized.
The Northwest Conference was also well represented, as 22 student-athletes were honored. Willamette had two male runners and four female runners honored, while Lewis & Clark had six female runners recognized to lead the NWC pack.
