Pirates Set To Host Final Two Home Games Of 2012 Season
The Whitworth volleyball team will host Lewis & Clark and George Fox in the final two home games of the 2012 season. The Pirates will face the Pioneers at 7:00 pm on Friday, October 26th and the Bruins at 4:00 pm on Saturday, October 27th in the Whitworth Fieldhouse.
The Bucs are looking to split the series with both teams after losing to Lewis & Clark and George Fox on the road earlier this season.

Northwest Conference Standings: Pacific Lutheran remains at the top of the NWC standings with a conference record of 11-1. George Fox is in fourth with an NWC record of 7-5. Whitworth is tied with Linfield for seventh with a 3-9 record, while Lewis & Clark rounds out the standings at ninth with a 2-10 conference record.

On Wednesday, the Bucs played Whitman College, falling in three straight sets, 25-12, 25-8, 25-22. Whitworth committed half of its 22 hitting errors in the first set and hit -.029 for the game while Whitman hit .265 for the game, including a hitting percentage of .438 in the second set.
On Saturday, Whitworth fell at Willamette University in four sets. The Bearcats hit .292 in their 25-15, 25-11, 21-25, 25-14 win while the Pirates had a hitting percentage of .054. After hitting .030 and -.172 in the first two sets, the Bucs improved in their third set win, hitting .242 to match Willamette, but it was not enough for the Pirates to earn the victory.
Stat Leaders: Junior Jalana White has recorded 236 kills this season and is averaging 3.19 kills per set, both of which rank her among the top five in the conference. Freshman Nicole Leonard is averaging 2.88 kills per set. Freshman Maddye Dinsmore has 404 assists this season to average 8.60 assists per set, which also ranks her among the top five in the conference.
Junior Briauna Stadeli has seven solo blocks and assisted on 43 blocks this season to average 0.68 blocks per set. Jalana White has recorded a team-high 12 solo blocks and assisted on 32 blocks to average 0.59 blocks per set. Nicole Leonard has 315 digs on the season to average 4.26 digs per set while junior Whitney Santos has 223 digs this season to average 4.21 digs per set.
Five Bucs have hit double-digits in the number of aces they've served up this season. Junior Abi Hedlund has served up 18 aces this season, averaging 0.27 service aces per set. Maddye Dinsmore has had 14 aces this season, while Nicole Leonard, Whitney Santos and junior Anna Buck have all recorded 10 aces this season.
The Pioneers: Lewis & Clark comes to the Fieldhouse after dropping a pair of games last weekend. The Pioneers lost to Pacific (Ore.), 3-2, at home on Friday and then lost 3-0 at PLU on Saturday.
Lewis & Clark is led by Kateleya Milan, whose 3.45 kills per set average leads the team and is among the top five in the conference. Milan is hitting .183 this season. Jennifer Dowdy averages 2.96 kills per set for the Pioneers and has a hitting percentage of .094.
Kelsie Dorpat averages 5.68 assists per set for the Pioneers while Elena Hoff averages 4.27 digs per set. Hoff also leads the team with 20 aces, averaging .29 service aces a set. Daniela de Kervor's 19 aces this season give her an average of .28 aces a set, while Dowdy's recorded 15 aces for an average of .21 aces per set.
Alicia Callejo-Black has 22 solo blocks and has assisted on 46 blocks this season. She's averaging .93 blocks per set for the Pioneers. Kayla Ernewein has eight solo blocks and has assisted on 36 blocks for an average of .60 blocks per set this season.
The Pioneers defeated the Bucs earlier this season, 3-0, in Portland.
The Bruins: George Fox split a pair of road games last weekend. The Bruins lost at Puget Sound 3-1 on Friday and then defeated Linfield 3-1 on Saturday.
Tiffany Burk leads the Bruins and is among the top five in the conference for both her .287 hitting percentage and 1.03 blocks per set average. Burk has 22 solo blocks, has assisted on 47 blocks and averages 2.51 kills per set.
Lucy Capron averages 2.75 kills per set, while Erin Campbell averages 2.72 kills per set. Payton Shrum is averaging 7.03 assist per game for George Fox and Kylee Adderson has recorded 10 solo blocks and 40 block assists for a 0.67 blocks per set average.
Four Bruins have served up more than 20 aces this season. Lucy Capron leads the team, having recorded 34 aces, and her 0.48 service aces per set is among the top five in the league. Chelsea Wilson has served up 23 aces while Erin Campbell and Kylee Adderson each have 21 aces this season.
Chelsea Wilson's 404 digs and 5.69 digs per set average not only has her leading the Bruins, but also ranks her among the top five in the NWC. Lucy Capron averages 3.48 digs per set for George Fox.
The Bruins defeated the Pirates earlier this season, 3-0, in Newberg.
NWC Leaders: All three teams have a member that is ranked in the top five of the conference in various categories, which include number of kills, kills per set, assists per set, number of digs, digs per set, hitting percentage, blocks per set and service aces per set.

Chelsea Wilson has recorded 404 digs this season and is averaging 5.69 digs per set, both of which rank her among the top five in the league. Tiffany Burk has a hitting percentage of .287, while her 69 blocks this season gives her a top-five league average of 1.03 blocks per set. Lucy Capron also represents the Bruins in the top five with her .48 service aces per set.
The Coach: Steve Rupe has a record of 210-149 during his 14 year tenure as the Pirates volleyball head coach. He has been named NWC Coach of the Year four times (2001, 2002, 2010 and 2011) and AVCA Coach of the Year once (2005). Rupe is the winningest coach in school history as well as the longest serving Pirate volleyball coach. During his tenure, Whitworth has won five NWC titles and has advanced to the NCAA Division III finals twice (2002, 2005).
