Whitworth (2-3) was led by freshman Nicole Leonard, who finished the night with 14 kills, 11 digs and three aces.  Luther improves to 3-3.

After tying the third set at 7-7, Whitworth went on a run that included services aces by juniors Jalana White and Anna Buck, but the Pirates could not carry the momentum over into sets four and five.

"I am proud of our effort and the fight we gave from start to finish," Rupe said. "We are still figuring each other out and had some moments where we were very good.  Our goal for tomorrow is to make those moments last longer and more often."

Whitworth returns to the Fieldhouse for two games tomorrow.  The Pirates open against Whittier at 12:00 pm and then return to take on Whitman at 4:00 pm.
