McMinnville, Ore. – The Whitworth women's tennis season ended in the semifinals of the Northwest Conference tournament with a 6-0 loss to host Linfield on Saturday morning.

The Pirates end the year at 7-11 after returning to the NWC tournament following a one-year absence.  Linfield, 25th in the ITA Division III rankings, improves to 14-1 and advances to the championship final on Sunday.

The Wildcats swept all three doubles matches for an early 3-0 lead.  The closest of the three came at #3 doubles where Whitworth's Jennifer Adams and Katie Lacayo fell to Riley Clayeux and Haley Fujimori 8-5.  Linfield's Ella Riddle and Basia Kopecka beat Emma Jo Wiley and Erica Lee 8-4 at #1 doubles.

Only three of the singles matches were completed.  The Wildcats got wins at #1, #3 and #6 singles to earn the shutout victory.  Wiley earned Whitworth's only set win when she took the first set at #2 singles 6-3 over Elsa Harris.

The Pirates will return all but Adams, the lone senior, next season.
