Pair of Pirates Earn All-NWC Honors
Mooney was voted to the All-NWC first team by league coaches, while Steele was selected to the second team. It is the first team either player has been recognized as All-NWC.
Mooney played in 17 of Whitworth's 18 matches this season, all at #1 on the ladder. She finished 8-9 overall, but 8-4 against opponents within the Northwest Conference. She also teamed with Taylor Peña as the #1 doubles team for the Pirates. Mooney and Peña went 7-11 overall and 6-6 within the NWC.
Steele played #2 on the Pirates' singles ladder. She had a record of 7-11 overall and 6-6 within the NWC. Steele played doubles with three different partners this season and finished 7-10. She and KC McConnell closed out the second half of the season together at #3 on the ladder and went 5-4.
Mooney and Steele led Whitworth to an overall record of 8-10. But the Pirates finished 7-5 and tied for third place in the NWC.
