SPOKANE, Wash. – Five Whitworth Pirates earned a place on the 2017 All-Northwest Conference women's soccer team, which was released this morning by the NWC office.

Sydney Weiler (Jr. Spokane, Wash.) and Kathryn Bischoff (Sr., Spokane, Wash.) are first team selections, while Kelly Wucherer (Jr., Woodinville, Wash.) and Leah Corra (Sr., Redmond, Wash.) are second team choices. Arielle Van Peursem (Jr., Bothell, Wash.) was an honorable mention selection.

This season is the first on the all-conference team for Weiler, Wucherer, and Corra. Bischoff and Van Peursem are second time honorees.

The full release can be found on the Northwest Conference website.

Weiler was an integral part of the Pirate defense, which finished the season allowing just under one goal per match in Northwest Conference play. She led the back line as the Pirates went over 160 straight minutes without allowing a shot on goal early in the season. Weiler finished the year with one goal.

Bischoff served as the Pirates primary playmaker and played all three midfield positions in head coach Bryan Olson's 4-3-3 system. She scored five goals on the year and assisted on another. Bischoff was the Pirates' free kick specialist this season and booted home three goals on free kicks.

Corra led the Pirates with eight goals, which was also good enough for third-most in the NWC. She also assisted on two goals and took a team-leading 37 shots.

Wucherer's tough-nosed play made her a fan favorite in 2017. The junior midfielder played box-to-box and scored three goals with one assist. All of Wucherer's goals came in NWC play.

After an All-NWC first team campaign in 2016, defenses keyed in on Arielle Van Peursem in 2017. In turn, Van Peursem turned into a playmaker on the wing and created several scoring chances for the Pirates. She finishes the year with one assist.

Whitworth's five All-NWC selections led the team to a 12-6-2 overall record with an 11-3-2 mark in conference.
