Pirates Earn Second Win in NWC Play
SPOKANE, Wash. - On Sunday afternoon the Whitworth women's soccer team (2-4-1, 2-2-1) posted a shutout of 2-0 against Pacific Lutheran University (2-4, 1-3).
The only two goals in the match were scored within three minutes of each other early in the first half. At the 11 minute mark Chloe Cook (Jr., MF, Seattle, Wash.) broke through two defenders for a one on one with the Lute's goalkeeper and scored. This was Cook's first goal in 2011.
A cross from Aaren Sherpe (Fr., MF, Centennial, Colo.) on the right side was found by Chelsea Schooler (Jr., MF, Boulder, Colo.) who headed the ball in to give the Pirates a 2-0 lead. This was Schooler's inaugral goal of 2011 as well.
The PLU offense struggled against the Whit defense and was not able to attempt a single shot on goal through 90 minutes of play. The Pirates recorded 15 shots overall.
