ALOHA, Ore. – The Whitworth women's golf team finished in fourth place at the Culturame Classic hosted by George Fox this weekend.
George Fox's Kelsey Morrison finished with a score of 151 on the par-73 course to take first place in the player standings. Senior Emily Guthrie shot 87 in the first round, but bounced back in the second round, shooting 73 in the second round and finished fourth in the player standings with a score of 160.
Freshman Yvonne LaCoursiere was part of a three-way tie for 19th place with a score of 178 while freshman Chelsea Bayley took 26th with a score of 181. Freshman Cindy Tapia tied with Pacific's Kaci Linton for 31st with a score of 187.
At a meet that featured four other Northwest Conference teams, the Pirates finished in the middle of the pack. George Fox took first place with a score of 632. Whitworth scored 706, coming in behind California-Santa Cruz (661) and Willamette (662). The Bucs finished ahead of Linfield (706) and Pacific (Ore.) (799).
Whitworth has next weekend off from competition and returns to action at the NWC Fall Classic at Tri Mountain golf club on October 27th and 28th.
