Women's Golf To Compete In Culturame Classic

The Whitworth women's golf team will travel to George Fox this weekend for the Culturame Classic on October 6th and 7th.

The event will be hosted by George Fox for the third year in a row, and it will be held at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club for the second straight year. The Culturame Classic will feature Northwest Conference teams Lewis & Clark, Linfield, Pacific, Willamette, Whitworth in addition to the host school, George Fox.

Last Time Out: The ladies hosted the Whitworth Invitational last weekend at the Spokane Country Club. The Pirates came away in second with a 655, coming in 16 strokes behind first-place Whitman, who finished with a team score of 639.

The Bucs will compete against Linfield and Willamette this weekend, after finishing ahead of both teams at the Whitworth Invitational. The Bearcats finished 19 strokes behind the Pirates to take third place, while the Wildcats tied with North Idaho College for fifth place.

All of Whitworth's golfers finished in the top 30. Senior Emily Guthrie led all of the golfers, finishing eight strokes ahead of Whitman's Catelyn Webber to take first place. Junior Ashley Danforth (162) tied for fifth place, while freshman Chelsea Bayley (166) finished 11th. Freshmen Yvonne LaCoursiere (177) and Cindy Tapia (188) finished 21st and 29th, respectively.

Next Up: The women's team will have a weekend off from competition before returning to action at the NWC Fall Classic at the Tri Mountain golf course on October 27th and 28th.
