Guthrie Moves Up Leaderboard After NCAA Second Round

ANGOLA, Ind. – Whitworth junior Emily Guthrie surged up the leaderboard following the second round of the 2012 NCAA Division III women's golf championships on Wednesday at Zollner Golf Course.

Guthrie shot a four-over 76 on Wednesday, four strokes better than her opening round of 80 on Tuesday.   Her two-day total of 156 is now tied for 16th place overall.  She had been tied for 32nd following Tuesday's round.  There are 101 players in the field.

Guthrie birdied two holes today – the par-4 third hole and the par-5 tenth hole.  She also had six bogies, two on the front nine and four on the back nine. 

Catherine Wagner of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is the individual leader at the halfway point of the tournament with a two-day total of 149.

Northwest Conference member George Fox is in tenth place and Whitman is 12th in the team standings.

Guthrie was one of six individual players invited to compete in the 2012 championships.
