SPOKANE, Wash. – Despite playing the entire season on knees that often made it hard to walk, Whitworth senior Lexi Belcher has been to the All-Northwest Conference First Team in women's basketball. The NWC office released the 2012 All-Conference list today.
Belcher was the Pirates' leading scorer this season, leading the team in total points in 16 of the team's 25 games. Belcher averaged 16.9 points per contest, which ranked second in the NWC. She also led the league in three-point percentage (41.8) after raising her average nearly five percentage points in the final two weeks. She ranked eighth in field goal percentage (46.1) and 12th in free throw percentage (72.1). She was also the Pirates' second-leading rebounder this season, averaging 6.0 boards per contest.
Belcher's 33 points at Linfield on February 10th surpassed the 26 points in the game against Whitman on January 17th as her career high. She tied a school record with eight three-pointers made (in only 11 attempts) in that win at Linfield two weeks ago. Her career-high of 14 rebounds came in an overtime victory over Pacific on January 13th.
Belcher was the only All-NWC honoree for the Pirates, who finished 11-14 overall and 7-9 in the NWC.
