Whitworth Teams Sweep College of Idaho
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Whitworth swimming teams earned a pair of dual meet wins over visiting College of Idaho in the final home meets of the season for the Pirates.
The Whitworth women won 116-60, while the men won 123-41.
Kori Carpenter won twice for the Pirate women, who claimed first place in seven of the ten events. Carpenter won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.02 and took the 100-yard freestyle in 55.68.
Taylor Burnight won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.98 and also led off the Pirates' winning 200 freestyle relay (1:44.80).
Alisa Stang won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.50 and anchored the winning 400 medley relay to a winning time of 4:22.58.
The Whitworth men won seven of the ten events as well. Callum McKintosh raced to a winning time of 56.95 in the 100-yard backstroke and then was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:28.70).
Korey Kinney was the winner of the 200-yard individual medley in 2:03.96 and also swam the breaststroke leg of the winning 400 medley relay (3:48.54).
Ben Gustafson won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:03.17.
Whitworth was able to recognize its senior class prior to the start of the dual.
The Pirates will conclude the dual meet season on Saturday afternoon in a Northwest Conference event at Whitman College.
