Whitworth Swimming Sweeps By Pacific
FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Whitworth University turned a long bust right on Friday into a pair of swimming dual meet victories at Pacific University. The Pirate women won 124-80, while the Whitworth men won 133-70.
Whitworth's women took seven of the 11 events, including both relays. Kori Carpenter led the way for the women by winning both the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.43) and the 100-yard freestyle (55.31).
The Bucs won the women's 200-yard medley relay in 1:51.73 and the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:42.98.
Whitworth's men also won both relay races and took eight of the 11 events. The Pirates won the 200 medley relay in 1:38.68 and the 200 free relay in 1:30.03.
Aaron Vaccaro demonstrated his sprinting versatility by swimming the butterfly leg on the medley relay before winning both the 50-yard freestyle (22.12) and the 100-yard backstroke (54.73).
Whitworth will conclude its weekend in Oregon with another dual meet at Lewis & Clark College on Saturday afternoon.
