INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Rory Buck concluded his brilliant Whitworth swimming career with his fourth NCAA Division III individual championship on Saturday evening.   He won the 200-yard breaststroke for the second straight year during the final night of competition at the NCAA Division III Championships at the Indianapolis Natatorium.

Buck's winning time was 1:59.27.  He held off Paul Dyrkacz of Williams (1:59.95) over the final 100 yards of the race.

Buck just missed breaking his own NCAA Division III record in the event during the morning preliminary heats.  His morning time was 1:58.09, only three-tenths of a second off of his national record (1:57.79) set last season.

Whitworth had four other races during Saturday's morning preliminary heats.  Wesley Walton finished 24th in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:52.05.  Katherine Duvall was 23rd in the women's 200 back with a time of 2:04.44.

Buck, Walton, Nathan Ranno and Aaron Vaccaro finished 22nd in the men's 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:08.40.

Whitworth finished the meet with 60 points, good for a tie for 14th place in the final standings. Denison College won its second straight national title.  Fellow NWC-member Whitman finished tied for 27th with 27 points and Puget Sound scored four points to tie for 47th place.
