Nationally-ranked Whitman Sweeps Whitworth

SPOKANE, Wash. – Nationally-ranked Whitman continued its roll through the Northwest Conference with a 9-0 win at Whitworth on Wednesday evening. 

The Missionaries, ranked 14th in the ITA Division III rankings, improved to 13-3 overall and 10-0 in the NWC.  The Pirates dropped to 6-9, 5-5.

Whitman won all three doubles matches by a single break of serve.  Whitworth's Drew Brigham and Shane Sandlin pushed the Missionaries #1 team of Andy Riggs and Steven Roston before falling 8-6.

Only one of the six singles matches went more than one set.  That came at #6 on the ladder where Parker Silverman rallied past Sandlin 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (12-10).

John Talbot challenged Andrew La Cava at #2 singles before falling 6-2, 6-4.

Whitworth returns to action on Tuesday, April 15th when the Pirates host Eastern Washington at 3:00 pm in the Scotford Tennis Center.
