SPOKANE, Wash. – After a splitting their matches at home last weekend, Whitworth men's soccer heads to Walla Walla to battle with the Whitman Blues.

The Pirates take on the Blues at Noon on Saturday, Oct. 7 before getting their first Sunday off this season.

The Whitworth men's soccer schedule will have live links to this weekend's matches.

The Pirates: Whitworth (4-6-1, 2-3-1 NWC) dropped their first match of the weekend to Willamette 3-1 before defeating Linfield by the same score the next day.

Moi Diaz scored three of Whitworth's four goals against the Wildcats and Bearcats and assisted on the fourth goal. Jonah Snyder assisted on two of Diaz's goals, and Eric Espinoza scored Whitworth's fourth goal.

Chasing History: The Pirates are looking to make history this season. The men's soccer program has never won four consecutive Northwest Conference championships, and after titles in 2014, 2015, and 2016 this season's Pirates have a chance to be the first to win four straight.

How May We Assist You: Austin Cassity's excellent start to the season includes a spot at the top of the conference leaderboard in assists. His five assists are also the 38th-most nationally. As a team, Whitworth leads the Northwest Conference with 18 assists. Three Pirates (Cassity, Snyder, and Eric Espinoza) are top-five on the conference's assist leaderboard.

The Blues: Whitman (4-6-1, 3-2-1 NWC) fared a bit better than the Pirates last weekend, defeating Linfield 2-1 and tying Willamette 1-1. The Blues enter the weekend in third place in the NWC.

Defender Noah Cavanaugh leads Whitman in scoring with three goals, and freshmen forward Peter Stephens tallied two on eight shots on goal. Owen Davis-Bower's 1.01 goals against average is third-best in the conference, and his .750 save percentage is fourth-best in the NWC.

Last season, Whitworth and Whitman tied in Spokane, and the Pirates pulled out a 2-1 win in Walla Walla. Snyder scored two of Whitworth's three goals against the Blues.

Looking Ahead: After battling the Blues, Whitworth heads to Willamette and Linfield for rematches of last weekend. The Pirates play the Wildcats on Saturday, Oct. 14 and take on the Bearcats on Sunday Oct. 15.
