Pirate Men Not Selected for NCAA Soccer Tournament
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Whitworth University men's soccer team can claim at least a dozen wins for the 11th time in the last 13 years. But the Pirates will not be able to celebrate that accomplishment with a bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III tournament. Whitworth was not awarded an at-large berth in the tournament field, which was announced this morning.
The Pirates finished with a record of 12-3-3 overall and a Northwest Conference mark of 10-2-2, just behind league champion Puget Sound. UPS earned the NWC's automatic bid to the national tournament and will compete in Texas against Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday.
Whitworth has made eight NCAA Tournament appearances since 2001.
