Larson, a transfer from Bellevue Community College in his first year with the Pirates, had previously been named First Team All-Northwest Conference.

"Balin made an immediate impact upon his arrival but not just on the field of play," said Whitworth head coach Sean Bushey. "He is a leader and a great teammate.  He seeks to excel on the field and in the classroom. He is very deserving of this recognition."

Larson anchored a Whitworth defensive backfield that limited opponents to an average of 8.3 shots per match and limited shots on-goal to only 2.9 per contest.  The Pirates finished with 13 shutouts and a team goals-against average of 0.50.

Larson was picked as NWC Defensive Player of the Week on September 18th and October 23rd.

Whitworth finished 13-3-3 this fall, winning the Northwest Conference and advancing to the NCAA Division III tournament for the seventh time in school history.
