Whitworth and Puget Sound Are Scoreless Again

TACOMA, Wash. - For the second time in two weeks Whitworth and Puget Sound played to a scoreless draw in a Northwest Conference men's soccer contest.

The 10th-ranked Pirates are now 9-0-3 overall and 6-0-2 (20 points) in the NWC.  The host Loggers are 8-2-4, 4-1-3 (15 points) and remain in third place in the conference standings.  The two teams had played to a 0-0 tie on September 30th in Spokane.

Whitworth's tenth shutout of the season came courtesy of two saves.  One was by Pirate goal-keeper Kyle Novak and the other was a team save when Puget Sound's Vincent McCluskey's shot was kept out of the goal just inside the right post by a Whitworth defender.  Both shots came in the first half for the Loggers.

Whitworth had two shots just go over the cross bar, but the Pirates were unable to put any of their six shots on frame.

Whitworth will take on second-place Pacific Lutheran (6-1-1, 19 points) on Sunday at 2:30 pm.
