Sherpe and Willi Honored by NSCAA

SPOKANE, Wash. – Whitworth's Brian Sherpe and Taylor Willi have been recognized for academic and athletic excellence by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Sherpe, a senior goalkeeper, was named First Team Scholar-All-West Region.  Willi received honorable mention consideration.

Sherpe, who carries a 3.31 GPA in biophysics through the fall term, was named the Northwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year. He finished the season with 10 shutouts and was ranked nationally for statistics in goals-against average and save percentage. Sherpe led the NWC, and was eighth in the nation, with a 0.51 goals-against and he had a .878 save percentage.

Willi, a biochemistry major, has a sterling 3.94 GPA through the fall term.  Willi was named Second Team All-NWC in the fall.  He started all 18 matches as a combination midfielder and defender for the Bucs and contributed four goals and one assist.
