Different Pitch, Same Story for Whitworth Men
TACOMA, Wash. - On Sunday afternoon the Whitworth men's soccer team (8-3-1, 6-2-0) fought to the end but dropped the game with a score of 1-0 to Pacific Lutheran University (10-2-0, 7-1-0).
Similar to their last meeting, it was an early goal for the Lutes that would decide the Pirates' fate. Spencer Augustin scored his 12th goal of the year in the 31st minute of play to put the Bucs away.
Robby Ubben (Fr., F, Gig Harbor, Wash.) provided five looks at the net but was unable to convert any against PLU's wall of defense.
Brian Sherpe (Sr., GK, Centennial, Colo.) made six saves throughout the match in an attempt to tame the Lutes who are now alone at the top of the NWC standings.
The Bucs will look for redemption Sunday afternoon when they face the University of Puget Sound in a contest set for 2:30 PM at the Loggers' home pitch.
