Men's Golf Finishes Second At Lewiston Triangular

CLARKSTON, Wash. – The Whitworth men's golf team took second at the Lewiston Triangular at the Quail Ridge Golf Course on Saturday.

Lewis-Clark State College took first place with 284. Whitworth finished second with 290 and Whitman finished in third with 314.

Lewis-Clark State College freshman Rylee Iacolucci shot 67 on the par 71 course for the best round of the day.  Junior Jesse Salzwedel finished one stroke behind Iacolucci with a 68 to lead the Pirates.

For the team score, freshman Samson Martinez shot 81, freshman Lyle Rudnicki shot 75, Joey DeGroff shot 70, Stephen Plopper shot 77 and Salzwedel shot 68.

Individually, Whitworth had seven competitors, including six freshmen. Andrew Dodge shot 75, Oliver Rudnicki shot 72, Stephen Thoen shot 74, Tyler McQuilkin shot 72, Austin Billeter shot 76 and Cole Helgeson shot 75. Senior Christian Boudreau shot 75.

Next up, the Whitworth men's golf team will travel to Hayden, Idaho for the North Idaho Invitational on September 23-24.
