Sulpizio Named to Academic All-District Team

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Emilio Sulpizio has been voted to the CoSIDA Academic NCAA Division III District VIII All-District 2011-12 Football Team by a vote of regional sports information directors.

Sulpizio (Fifth-year Senior., C, Spokane, Wash. - Mead) is a four-time recipient of the honor because he did not play during his academic freshman year. He has been a four-year starter for the Pirates at center. He is a biochemistry major with a 3.90 grade point average.

The NCAA Div. III Academic All-District VIII teams are selected from players at schools in the Northwest, California, Texas and Iowa. The players are nominated and selected by members of CoSIDA. To be eligible for nomination, a player must be a starter or important reserve with a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and of sophomore standing. Whitworth nominated eight players, but only Sulpizio was selected to the final team. There were more than 100 nominees for the 25-player team.

This is the first year that the CoSIDA Academic All-District teams were broken down by division.

Sulpizio is now eligible for selection to the 2011-12 Division III Academic All-America football team.
