The Whitworth University baseball quartet of Joel Condreay, Hugh Smith, Matthew Young, and Cody Simmons will be competing for the Wenatchee Applesox of the West Coast League to kick off the summer of 2017.
Condreay earned his second consecutive Academic All-District selection and was a second team All-Northwest Conference selection in 2017. His .328 batting average led all Pirate hitters last season.
Smith tallied three wins and one save while pitching 47 innings for the Pirates in 2017. Smith was a first team All-NWC honoree and All-Region selection in 2016.
Young led the Pirates with 79 innings pitched and 44 strikeouts as a freshman this spring. His 3.06 ERA was tops amongst Whitworth starters. Young was name second team All-NWC.
Simmons played in 24 games during his freshman campaign, including 16 starts behind the plate. He collected 14 hits, including three doubles and a triple.
