Condreay Earns Second Straight Academic Honor

SPOKANE, Wash. – Whitworth shortstop Joel Condreay has been voted to the Academic All-District 8 Division III Baseball Team for the second straight year by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  The 2017 Academic All-District teams were released today.

Condreay, a junior from Renton, Washington, has a 3.95 grade point average through Jan Term as an accounting and finance double major and was one of five infielders selected to the team.

Now in his third season as the Pirates' starting shortstop, Condreay led the team in batting average (.328) and finished third in total hits (44), despite missing 12 games to injury in 2017. He scored 26 runs and had 14 RBIs.

Condreay, who was named second team All-Northwest Conference last week, is also one of the best defensive shortstops in the league.  He posted a .905 fielding percentage with only 14 errors in 147 total defensive chances.

The Division III Academic All-District 8 consists of schools from 21 states within the Midwest and West regions of the United States. Players are nominated and selected by members of CoSIDA. Eligible nominees must be a starter or important reserve with a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better, and hold sophomore standing or higher.

Condreay is now eligible for selection to the Academic All-America Division III baseball team.
