Last season Pfeffer was named a First Team All-American by D3baseball.com and a Second Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association after leading the Pirates to the NCAA Division III World Series in Appleton, Wisconsin.

"It's exciting that Tyler and Dan are receiving this honor in recognition for the year we had in 2012," said Whitworth head coach Dan Ramsay.  "Although these are individual awards, I know our guys see this as a team accomplishment.  Awards like these help to continue to put Whitworth Baseball on the map."

Pfeffer batted .379 with 12 home runs, 23 doubles and 61 runs batted-in last spring.  He scored 51 runs and had 141 total bases in 195 at-bats for a .723 slugging average.  On defense he only committed two errors in 93 defensive chances for a .978 fielding percentage.

Scheibe broke through as an All-Northwest Conference selection as a freshman starting pitcher in 2012.  He went 7-3 with a 2.66 earned run average.  He struck out 95 batters in 88.0 innings and threw 13.1 scoreless innings at the NCAA West Regional.

Whitworth will open the season on February 8th with a game at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks, California.
