A Dozen Pirates Playing in Summer Collegiate Leagues

SPOKANE, Wash. – A dozen Whitworth University baseball players will compete in summer collegiate leagues in 2012.

"Coach Brandon Harmon has done a great job of securing spots throughout the country where our guys can continue to develop their skills," said Whitworth head coach Dan Ramsay. "The continual growth and development of our program relies heavily on our players' ability to compete year round."

Josh Davis (So., C, Thousand Oaks, Calif.) and Spencer Ansett (So., LHP, Spokane, Wash.) will play for Athletes In Action of the New York Collegiate Baseball League (http://www.nycbl.com/).

Carson Blumenthal (So., LHP/1B, Spokane, Wash.), Eric Nikssarian (So., OF, Sandpoint, Idaho) and Dan Scheibe (So., RHP, Richland, Wash.) will compete for the Nevada Bighorns (http://hometeamsonline.com/teams/?u=nevadabighorns&s=baseball&t=c) of the Far West League (http://www.farwestleague.com/) in Carson City, Nevada.

Tyler Pfeffer (Jr., OF, Spokane, Wash.) and Jason Renner (Jr., RHP, Spokane, Wash.) will play for the Atwater Aviators (http://www.atwateraviators.com/) of the Far West League (http://www.farwestleague.com/) in Merced, Calif. 

Taylor Isadore (Jr., RHP/UTIL, Leavenworth, Wash.), Thomas Wakem (So., OF, Spokane, Wash.), Nick Motsinger (Fr., INF, Spokane, WA) and Nick Scourey (So., LHP, Pullman, Wash.) will compete for the Manitowac Bandits (http://www.manitowocbandits.com/) of the Northeastern Wisconsin League (http://www.northeasternwileague.org/).

Marlowe Peter (Sr., C, Boise, Idaho) will compete for the Lizards in the Arizona Collegiate League (http://www.azsummerball.com/).

A number of other Pirates will also be playing for their American Legion team or other select programs over the summer.  Following a season in which the Pirates won their first NWC Championship in over 20 years, won the NCAA McMinnville Regional and made their first NCAA Division III World Series appearance, the Pirates are hungry to develop their skills and get back to Appleton in 2013.
