Whitworth had two student-athletes honored by the Northwest
Conference as Student-Athlete of the Week over the past two weeks.
Sophomore Alisa Stang earned last week’s Student-Athlete of
the Week for women’s swimming, while redshirt junior Emily
Travis got the nod for women’s basketball this
week.

Women’s Swimming
Alisa Stang
Whitworth, Sophomore
Stanwood, Wash./Stanwood
Alisa Stang finished first in all four of her individual
events and anchored a pair of relays to victory in a non-conference
meet with College of Idaho and a Northwest Conference dual meet win
against Whitman.
Week of Jan. 28-Feb. 3
Women’s Basketball
Emily Travis
Whitworth, Redshirt Junior
Spokane, Wash./Lewis & Clark HS
Emily split two defenders and scored what turned out to be
the winning layup with 1.8 seconds remaining to lead the Pirates to
a 53-52 upset over No. 6 Lewis & Clark on Friday night. Travis
had a game-high 19 points in the win and went 4-for-4 from the free
throw line. On Saturday, she had 16 point and six assists in
Whitworth's 78-71 overtime victory against Pacific (Ore.).
