NWC Student-Athletes of the Week

Weeks of Jan. 21-27 and Jan. 28 – Feb. 3
Whitworth had two student-athletes honored by the Northwest Conference as Student-Athlete of the Week over the past two weeks. Sophomore Alisa Stang earned last week’s Student-Athlete of the Week for women’s swimming, while redshirt junior Emily Travis got the nod for women’s basketball this week.

Alisa Stang finished first in all four of her individual events and anchored a pair of relays to victory in a non-conference meet with College of Idaho and a Northwest Conference dual meet win against Whitman.

Week of Jan. 28-Feb. 3
Women’s Basketball
Emily Travis
Whitworth, Redshirt Junior
Spokane, Wash./Lewis & Clark HS
Emily split two defenders and scored what turned out to be the winning layup with 1.8 seconds remaining to lead the Pirates to a 53-52 upset over No. 6 Lewis & Clark on Friday night. Travis had a game-high 19 points in the win and went 4-for-4 from the free throw line. On Saturday, she had 16 point and six assists in Whitworth's 78-71 overtime victory against Pacific (Ore.).
