NWC Student-Athletes of the Week
Week of October 1-6
Whitworth had two student-athletes honored by the Northwest
Conference. Freshman Lyle Rudnicki earned the men's golf
Student-Athlete of the Week while senior Kyle Novak earn the
defense Student-Athlete of the Week for men's soccer.
Men's Golf:
Lyle Rudnicki
Fr. Redmond, Wash./Redmond
Freshman Lyle Rudnicki earned the Northwest Conference Men’s
Golf Student Athlete of the Week honors after his outstanding
performance at the Whitman Invitational. Rudnicki had his
lowest scores of the season so far in Walla Walla. He shot a
69 in the both rounds of competition, leading his team to
a first place finish at the Whitman Invitational. Rudnicki was
three strokes ahead of George Fox’s Chris Lumsden and took
first place in the player standings with his six-under-par score of
138.
Men's Soccer:
Kyle Novak
Sr. Eugene, Ore./San Jose St.
Senior Kyle Novak earned the men's soccer Student-Athlete
of the Week for defense after posting his ninth shutout of the
season against Whitman over the weekend. Novak leads the league in
shutouts this season. He had five saves during the Whitman game,
with one during the final two seconds of regulation and a diving
stop in the first overtime period. Whitworth went on to win the
game 1-0 in 2OT.
