Jon Whiteside
Title: Assistant Baseball Coach

Jon Whiteside, a two year letter-winner at Whitworth and 2008 team captain and honorable mention All-NWC selection, will be in his fifth year on the Pirate coaching staff as the outfield and baserunning coach.  Prior to his two seasons at Whitworth, Jon played two years for the Community Colleges of Spokane. He is originally from Yakima.

Whiteside's outfield is among the most decorated group of position players in Whitworth history as he has seen center fielder Kevin Valerio earn the 2011 ABCA/Rawlings Regional and National Gold Glove Award and right fielder Tyler Pfeffer earn an All-American award in 2012.  The 2012 NCAA West Region Tournament saw two of Whiteside's outfielders selected to the All-Tournament team (Kevin Valerio and Eric Nikssarian).

Whiteside has spent the past four summers working as the Assistant Camp Director of Whitworth's Nike Baseball Camp through US Sports Camps.  In 2010 he served as the assistant coach for the Spokane Bandits, who finished as the runner-up in the Washington State AAA American Legion Tournament.  Whiteside is a graduate of Whitworth where he earned his B.A. in English.
